Jnana-yoga: According to jnana yoga, (the yoga of knowledge) one can able to experience the divine by meditating on spiritually teaching and realizing the truth from untruth through Vivek.
Raja-yoga: According to the raja, (the yoga of discipline) one can able to experience the life of self-discipline. It is also known as ashtanga yoga, where you can able to release your stress hormones throughout the body.
Yoga is the complete stillness in which one enters the unitive state and never to become separate again. If one is not established in this state then the sense of unity will come and go.

In 2017 a study by Stanford scientist discovers that how can you make your mind much more relaxed by breathing slowly. But do you know that in History of yoga it has been already discovered by some of the Indian Rishi Munis in 2700 BC?

First Indication of yoga Practice in India:
Around 5000 years back, researchers have been found some of the seals that directly belong to Indus valley civilization. On the other hand, it also proves that people were continuously practicing yoga in India at that time.
Mention of yoga in Holy Scriptures:
There is proper mention of yoga in holy scriptures like Vedas, Upanishads, and Bhagavad Geeta. And after it been the main source of yogic vidya (knowledge) for a long time.
Codification of yoga/ Patanjali Yoga Sutras:
Maharishi Patanjali has codified all of the yogic practices into 200 yoga sutras. And this is the main source of today’s modern yoga knowledge around all over the world.
To give you a little brief we would like to share 1of his main sutras such as:
Yogas Citta Vrtti Nirodhah:It means the“Controlling the modifications of the mind”
For example, there is a prison where two types of person inside it. The guard and a prisoner.
Both of them spend all day in the prison whereas the guard had a small break to his home for a sleep and comes back into the prison and serves his duty for 10 to 12 hours. Whereas the prisoner always tries to get out of it.
As you see both of them spend all of their time in prison but the mentality is different. One has so much negativity, of getting out. But the other one serves his duty with a smile on his face while they both are inside the prison.
Now the situation is almost the same for both of them but the way they think and their mentality creates a huge difference between them. It depends on you whether you want to go deeply negative or live your life with a positive mindset.
This is how Yogas Citta Vrtti Nirodhah works its controls your mind from the negative, never-ending thought process and makes it stable and calm. So, you can easily understand the difference between right or wrong.

What Is The History of Yoga?
The history of yoga is divided into 5 periods:
The earliest records mention of the word “yoga” is in the ancient Indian text, the Rig Veda – this body of knowledge dates back to around 1500 BC!
In the Athar Veda again (dating to 1200-1000 BC), there is a mention of the importance of the control of breath. And It is very difficult to find out the exact dates because, in the beginning, the Vedas were, only orally passed on from one generation to another. Whereas the written books came much later.
But, even before this, in the Indus-Saraswati civilization (dating to 2700 BC), several seals and fossils have been found, with figures performing Yoga Sadhana This also shows that yoga was known and practiced even in those early stages of civilization.
The Upanishads took birth in this era. They explain the meaning hidden in the Vedas, presenting on the workings of the mind and spirit through personal teachings.
They adopt meditation and mantra recitation towards the ultimate goal of attaining knowledge.
Out of the 108 Upanishads, there are 20 yoga Upanishads. These talk about different yogic techniques, like Pranayama (breathing exercise) and Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses), breathing exercises, sound, and meditation.

Classical period (500 BC to 800 AD):
In the history of yoga, The Bhagavad Gita also came into existence in this period. This text is a dialogue between Lord Krishna (universal awareness) and Prince Arjuna (human awareness). Here, the Lord explains the concepts of Dharma, Karma yoga (generous actions), Bhakti yoga (dedicated and caring actions), and Jnana yoga(knowledge).
Maharishi Patanjali also is known as the Father of yoga, and he was the first one to systematize the practices of yoga in. The second century BC. Through his yoga sutras, he spread the meaning of yoga, and the knowledge it has to offer.
This yoga was called Raja yoga. He formulated the Ashtanga yoga or the eight limbs of yoga, which included yamas, niyamas, asanas, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyan, and samadhi.
History of yoga era, many sages, and philosophers such as Adi Shankaracharya contributed to the development and continuation of Raja Yoga and Jnana yoga adopting and working upon the teachings and techniques of yoga.
With his teachings and yogic service, like the jnana yoga, one can achieve Nirvana or liberation. In order to, meditate it was also considered necessary to help clear the mind.
Tulsidasa and Purandaradasa also contributed to the science of yoga. Hatha yoga was popularized at this time. Most of the asanas that we practice today are part of Hatha yoga.
Modern Period (1700 AD to 1900 AD):
Swami Vivekanandawas largely responsible for the spread of yoga to western societies.
After that, there was much focus on physical well-being. Raja yoga was further developed by Rama Maharshi, Ramakrishna Paramahansa, BKS Iyengar, K Pattabhi Jois, Paramhansa Yogananda, and Vivekananda.
Yoga spread to the West in the mid-nineteenth century.
Vedanta and Bhakti Yoga developed at this time.
And this was the long journey by far that yoga undertook to reach the 21st century! Despite all this, the popularity of yoga remains high similar to its aim, which means to create a peaceful mind and have a spiritual knowledge of yourself.
Yoga has a wide history similar to its postures. Like you see how the history of yoga got evolve throughout the different periods and till now. It shows back in the days when technology and sources were not good like it’s now.
But instead of that some of the rishi munis and great peoples of that time found out the way to establish yoga and developing it from time to time and this shows how yoga evolves so much even it’s been mention in one of those Rig Vedas to worldwide cure of all major diseases.
